What Type Of Yoga is Best For Me?
“I love yoga! Simply because it makes me feel so good. Yoga has so many benefits for your body as well as your mind. Personally I love bikram yoga but I like other styles of yoga too. With so many types of yoga out there this graphic can be helpful! Or maybe you want to try a different style of yoga?”

This chart is awesome! I’m recovering from an injury so I haven’t practiced in forever, but I’m going to see if I can find a Integrative class. Thanks!
Yes!! Go for it 🙂
My favourite is Bikram also, but there isn’t a studio near me (at least 2 hours away) so I either have to heat my bathroom and use Bikram’s CD or go to Hot Power Yoga. All forms are beneficial in their own way…but my personal preference is Bikram 🙂 xo.
Love the heat 🙂
FANTASTIC CHART! Although I’ve been practicing yoga for over 15 years on and off I’ve never really attempted too many styles. Once I find something I like I tend to stick to it. Your ‘yoga map’ definitely sparked my interest for other forms of yoga I’d like to explore! THANK YOU for the little nudge outside my comfy cozy zone Sophie!
Yay!! Great to hear. Personally I would like to explore other types of yoga as well!
I’ve never heard of some of these, but my answers took me right to the kind I practice – Vinyasa! And here I thought I just did that because it was available.
That’s great! Sounds like you made the right choice
What a beautiful chart AlisonBinksyoga.com put together! It’s so interesting to read all the questions she came up with to determine what style of yoga you would like. As a Baptiste/Power Yoga junky I actually had a hard time answering the questions authentically to get to my preferred style! Looks like I need to find a Forrest yoga class and check it out – hello handstands! Thanks for sharing…
It’s pretty accurate right? 😀
great chart! Vinyasa for me it is clear.
Hi Sophie,
Thank you for liking my blog post(http://philgermany2.wordpress.com/2012/01/30/take-the-risk/). I’m so glad I found your blog, it’s crazy out of this world. I just started yoga and this post is a huge help. The other posts are very helpful also. I will put your blog in my daily list.
Im glad you like my blog! Thanks for visiting 🙂

Not sure where to start? Try here….
I saw this when it came out on YogaDork, and I’m still impressed to find that it’s been pretty accurate for me. I’ve played with a lot of different styles but keep coming back to vinyasa — though I never say no to a good handstand! 😉
I wish I could do a perfect handstand! 😀 Just keep on practicing, it’s all about the process haha
I still use the wall for my handstands and likely will for the foreseeable future. I do mine because they’re fun, not because they look nice! 😉
Interesting chart. Although I always say to beginners – try every type of yoga that you can! I’ve tried almost every type and it is thanks to this that I can edit my own personal practice to the needs of my body and my mood. I can’t stick to one type, because one day I want Astanga and the next I want Hatha! I think it’s great to try a bit of everything and then choose the one we prefer most.
Wow, I had no idea…
Iyengar was what I studied first then incorporated others over the years. I still love the classical nature of Iyengar. 🙂
The chart is helpful and an attractive presentation of the variety of yoga styles.
